Warning: Major spoilers for Thor: Love and Thunder to follow.
We hate to break it to you, but…that cute little girl in Thor: Love and Thunder, the one who plays Gorr the God Butcher’s daughter Love? Yep, she’s a nepotism baby. [Rolls eyes in TikTok.]
Jokes aside, this is a very sweet touch. Thor: Love and Thunder spotlights the kids of the MCU in a way that no other has before it, thanks to a collection of Asgardian youths featuring prominently in the plot. India Rose Hemsworth, 10, is in good company too, with the children of Natalie Portman, Taika Waititi, and Christian Bale all having cameos of their own in the film.
Mini Hemsworth, however, is the most prominent. She appears at the beginning and the end of the film in a fairly pivotal role as the daughter of the film’s villain. Herein lie the spoilers, so look away now if you haven’t yet seen Thor: Love and Thunder.
In the film’s cold open, Love dies in Gorr’s arms during an apparent drought, leading to his villainous turn. Then, at the end of the film, when Thor, Jane Foster, and Gorr are in the realm of Eternity—where Gorr is to be granted one wish—the God of Thunder convinces the God Butcher to bring his daughter back to life, rather than enact his initial plan to wipe all gods off the face of the earth. With Gorr and Jane both on death’s door following their battle, Thor vows to take care of Love. What follows is a heartwarming montage of their ensuing father and daughter relationship—eating pancakes together, fighting battles etc… It’s all very cute. And that dynamite chemistry? It’s all real. Makes sense, in hindsight.
