It seems that no one is safe when it comes to Selena Gomez stans on the internet—not even the woman who gave Gomez her literal kidney. Francia Raisa, the friend who donated her kidney to Gomez back in 2017, says that she’s been bullied relentlessly on social media since her rumored feud with the Only Murders in the Building star. Stanning a celebrity is all well and good, but this particular fandom has gotten way too toxic.
On May 6, Raisa described some of the trollish comments she’d been receiving online to TMZ. “I think the one that probably hurt the most was, ‘I hope someone goes up your pussy and rips out your other kidney you fucking whore,’” she said, adding that she was doing her best not to read the comments. The irony, Raisa noted, is that Gomez herself has told her fans to stop with the online bullying. “The fact that I’m now being bullied as I am, it’s messing with me mentally. To me, it’s not what anyone wants for someone. She’s literally out there saying, ‘Please stop,’ so I don’t understand others that are also being antagonized online.”
On more than one occasion in the past, Gomez has taken to her own social media to personally beg her stans to stop harassing their most frequent target, Hailey Bieber. Gomez fans perceive Bieber, who married Gomez’s longtime ex-boyfriend Justin Bieber, as an enemy to their fave and have been sending her abusive comments and even death threats for years.
“Hailey Bieber reached out to me and and let me know that she has been receiving death threats and such hateful negativity,” Gomez wrote on her Instagram Stories on March 24. “This isn’t what I stand for. No one should have to experience hate or bullying. I’ve always advocated for kindness and really want this all to stop.” Earlier in March, Gomez asked fans on TikTok to “please, please be kinder,” amidst all the Bieber drama, per Page Six.
If not even hearing it from Selena Gomez herself can stop the trolls from cyber-bullying and threatening her perceived enemies, what will? Because this needs to end.
