As the 2024 Venice Film Festival kicks off tomorrow, the excitement is already building with celebrities arriving at the iconic Excelsior Hotel in Italy this afternoon.
This year’s festival promises a star-studded lineup, beginning with the premiere of Tim Burton’s much-anticipated film, ‘Beetlejuice Beetlejuice’, and concluding on September 7th with the Italian film, ‘The American Backyard’. In between, we can look forward to seeing a host of A-listers—including Angelina Jolie, Lady Gaga, George and Amal Clooney, Brad Pitt, Cate Blanchett, Tilda Swinton, Julianne Moore, and many more—grace the red carpet. Isabelle Huppert will preside over the main competition jury, alongside fellow juror Zhang Ziyi.
Like Kerry Washington, Angelina Jolie is ready for the transitional season. The actress was one of the first stars spotted arriving in Venice, wearing a trench coat from the Dior Fall 2024 collection. I absolutely love how this piece retains all the hallmarks of a classic trench coat while the short sleeves offer a fresh, modern twist.
While many of us are hoping for another Atelier Versace Hall of Fame look from Angelina, I suspect she might use this festival to spotlight her own Atelier Jolie collection. Yet, I’m holding out hope that she’ll surprise us with a more epic red carpet moment.
Jenna Ortega, another early arrival, took a different approach with an eclectic mix that caught everyone’s eye. She paired an Alessandra Rich checked blazer with a red top and a beige pleated Sans Faff trench skirt. The outfit was completed with burgundy Jimmy Choo Marlowe Diamond loafers, socks, and a black Tod’s bag slung over her shoulder.
While some might think this look is a bit thrown together—an assessment I wouldn’t necessarily disagree with—it still carries the same charm as the schoolgirl-inspired ensembles she wore during her press tour last week. Garrett Leight California Optical Flipper sunglasses added the finishing touch to her unique style.
Monica Bellucci joined her co-star Jenna, but this time she stepped away from her signature black attire. Anticipation is high for a breathtaking look from the Italian actress at tomorrow’s premiere. Her choice of a white Balmain suit, styled with a Balmain Jolie Madame bag, suggests that she might be switching things up for this festival. I hope we are in for a real treat.
Sigourney Weaver, who will be warded the Golden Lion for Lifetime Achievement Award at the opening ceremony, brought a touch of Parisian elegance to the festival’s arrivals wearing a chic black and white ensemble from the Chanel Fall 2024 collection. Her look was classically timeless, and the straw boater hat added the perfect finishing touch as she arrived at the hotel by water boat.
With the Venice Film Festival set to begin, it is clear that we are in for 11 days of incredible style and unforgettable fashion moments.
Stay tuned, because this year’s red carpet is sure to deliver a mix of classic glamour, bold statements, and exciting surprises.
