Chilean actress Mariana Di Girolamo joined her co-star Úrsula Corberó for the Venice Film Festival premiere and photocall of ‘El Jockey’ (Kill The Jockey) on Thursday, delivering two memorable looks that, while not entirely original, showcased her ability to make pieces her own.

Premiere

For the premiere, Mariana opted for a long black embroidered velvet dress from the Chanel Fall 2018 Haute Couture collection. This gown, previously worn by Tilda Swinton with embellished runway boots, already has a history on the red carpet. However, Mariana managed to bring a fresh perspective to the look. She paired the dress with black satin Chanel ankle strap pumps, which lent the ensemble a more delicate and refined feel compared to Swinton’s edgier styling.

Accessorized with Lion Solaire Chanel asymmetrical earrings and a Chanel High Jewelry Pluie de Comètes ring, Mariana’s look was completed with an understated elegance that was both timeless and modern. One might think that wearing a piece with such a strong association with a fashion icon like Tilda Swinton could age a younger actress like Mariana, but she defied those expectations. Instead, she exuded sophistication and grace, proving that she can hold her own in a piece with significant fashion history. Perhaps her ability to reinvent the look is a testament to her style prowess.

Photocall

For the photocall, Mariana wore a white neoprene swimsuit styled with a white waffle jacquard cape and a white tweed skirt from Chanel’s Resort 2025 collection. This look might be more familiar, as Nathalie Emmanuel wore the same ensemble three months ago at the Cannes Film Festival while promoting ‘Megalopolis’. However, Mariana brought a new dimension to the outfit with the addition of the runway chain-linked Chanel belt—a choice that Nathalie opted out of.

The belt gave the look a new lease on life, creating a balance between the soft textures of the cape and skirt. The only element that didn’t quite hit the mark for me was the choice of black embellished sandals. They felt somewhat out of sync with the otherwise pristine white palette, though they did provide a striking contrast that some might find appealing.

Mariana accessorized once again with Chanel High Jewelry pieces.

This is a testament to if you are going to present reruns, inject your own personal flair into them.
