Ladies In Red at the Glamour Women of The Year Awards 2024

The Glamour Women of the Year Awards always delivers a variety of fashion moments, but this year’s UK event saw an unmistakable theme: vibrant, fiery red. It seems the colour red is already defining October, and we’re only a few days in—Ella Purnell and Zoe Saldana already kicked things off earlier in the month. Let’s take a closer look at how the colour unfolded on the red carpet.

Finally, a Personal Best

Chloe Bailey has often been guilty of trying a bit too hard with her fashion choices, but this time she nailed it. Wearing a Robert Wun Spring 2024 Couture strapless corset dress, Chloe served up her best look yet. The sultry draped skirt added movement, while the gloves elevated the overall glamour—far better than the fussy train we saw on the runway. It’s practical, stunning, and exactly what we needed from her. Chloe’s decision to swap out the train for gloves was a smart one, especially considering the busy red carpet environment. For once, her look felt confident and effortless rather than overdone – referencing everything grom the eyebrows down. The hair is another story. But I’m only willing to fight one battle at a time.

A Touch of Hitchcock, and a Hint of Holiday Cheer

Charli Howard brought the festive spirit early in a glittering Nicholas Oakwell Couture suit, reminding us that Christmas is only 84 days away. This collection was inspired by Alfred Hitchcock’s muse Grace Kelly, and you can see the influence in the classic, luxurious tailoring. With her vampy lip and dazzling jewels, this elegance was unparalleled. Compared to her previous red look at the Venice Film Festival, this was a major step up—timeless, festive, and worthy of a leading lady.

Déjà Vu, but Still Disappointing

Grace Beverley chose a red Roland Mouret strapless tailored crepe gown that might look familiar, as Gillian Jacobs wore the exact same piece to the 2024 Emmys. Unfortunately, the tailoring issues that plagued Gillian’s look persisted here as well. It’s not a matter of size; the structure itself seems off, particularly in the bodice. And once again, the skirt is too long, dragging down what could have been a sleek silhouette. Thus far, only the model is making it work.  The Alaïa Coeur red PVC pumps were a nice touch, but they couldn’t save the outfit from feeling ill-fitted and awkward.

Yikes

Alex Scott wore a David Koma Fall 2023 satin and lace ensemble, but sadly, it was a miss. If she had the choice between the runway version and the commercial one, she chose poorly. The entire look felt dated, which is surprising considering David Koma is known for his contemporary edge. The satin, the lace, the padded shoulders—all elements that aged the look rather than giving it the modern flair we expect from Alex who loves fashion.

Prada’s Potential Influence

There’s an unmistakable hint that Isabella Pappas might be wearing Prada, from the material to the structured darts on her bandeau top, to the train’s elegant drape. Though the details weren’t confirmed, the classic Prada fingerprints are all over it. Amidst a sea of bright reds, she was the deepest shade of them all.
