January isn’t over, but it’s shaping up to be a bleak month for fashion. French designer Manfred Thierry Mugler died on Sunday (January 23) at 73, just a week after the passing of the legendary André Leon Talley.

In a statement, the house honours the designer as having “empowered people around the world to be bolder and dream bigger every day.” Mugler was a pioneer of couture and also left his indelible print in the fragrance industry, with the iconic Angel by Thierry Mugler scent loved world over.

Although Mugler had retired from fashion in 2003, he made a splash with Kim Kardashian’s ‘wet look’ to the Met Gala in 2019. His archival works are firm favourites of the Hollywood set.
