After a few years of postponed events and distanced gatherings, the 2022 Grammys beauty fashion showed up in full force. With touching moments and bold statements, the Red Carpet showcased some of the most daring looks from our favorite designers. 90s statements and Valentino pink were among the most noticed while fresh takes on classic designers stood out. Case in point: Maid star Margaret Qualley in Chanel. The SAG, Golden Globe and Critics’ Choice nominee for her role as Alex in “Maid” accompanied the 2022 Grammys with her boyfriend Jack Antonoff, who won a Grammy for Producer of The Year, Non-Classical.

Wearing a Chanel jumper, the look inspired Wella Professionals Celebrity Stylist Mara Roszak to create a look that showcased the total vibe. “The cute bike short meets classic Chanel inspired me to create a high pony with a slightly 80’s feel. We wanted the pony to have some volume and natural wavy texture, while keeping it classic and swept off the face,” says Roszak.

  • To begin, Roszak added Wella Professionals Elements Renewing Leave-in Spray to Margaret’s damp hair to hydrate and protect it from any damage during the styling process.
  • While her hair was still damp, she applied RŌZ St. Lucia Styling Oil and blew it dry with a small round brush, smoothing out random sections while maintaining Margaret’s natural texture around the face.
  • Then, she used Wella Professionals EIMI Root Shoot Precise Root Mousse to create soft volume at the roots.
  • Using Margaret’s natural texture, Roszak added a bit more bend with a 1 1/4” iron, keeping the soft wave consistent with hers.
  • Margaret’s ponytail was pulled quite high, just below the crown, leaving some soft natural face frame pieces out. To ensure the pony was high but not too tight, she added bobby pins when needed to create the desired shape.
  • To add a finishing touch, she wrapped a section of hair around her pony and pinned it in place without making it look too perfect!
  • To add a bit of bounce and texture to the pony, she spritzed it with Wella Professionals EIMI Ocean Spritz Salt Hairspray and scrunched, followed by Wella Professionals EIMI Stay Firm Workable Finishing Hairspray to hold the hair in place. Finally, she added a barrette, off-centre in the back, for an extra special touch.
