It was a busy night for Jon Batiste at the 2022 Grammy Awards on Sunday (April 3), as he had three costume changes.

He picked up Album of the Year for his latest LP ‘We Are’ first, before going onto pick up a further four for Best Music Video (for ‘Freedom’), Best American Roots Performance (for ‘Cry’), and Best American Roots Song (for ‘Cry’), as well as Best Score Soundtrack for Visual Media (for ‘Soul’).

The look which stood out most for me was this Alexander McQueen bespoke crystal chandelier embroidered cape inspired by the Spring 2022 collection.

Did McQueen miss a trick by not decking his cape in gold to complement the many awards he won?

Jon picked up his first award of the night wearing a custom Dolce & Gabbana double-breasted suit embroidered with gold and black paillettes in a harlequin pattern which was a better reflection of his red carpet style.

I love how jovial this look is.  There were a lot of black menswear looks on this red carpet, so this stood out.

Jon’s third custom look was also from Dolce & Gabbana.

I love how this blue Sicilia-fit silk mikado suit features a layered 3-D application creating a crocodile skin effect, which was styled with a sheer iridescent blue turtleneck and matching socks.

The shoes kinda failed this look.

Jon’s band members and dancers also all wore custom Dolce & Gabbana monochromatic looks.

It’s been a very busy awards season for Dolce & Gabbana.
