The sequel to Knives Out, the thriller that made a celebrity out of Chris Evans’s cable knit sweater, is coming to Netflix later this year, and includes a stacked cast: Daniel Craig returns alongside franchise newcomers Kathryn Hahn, Janelle Monáe, and Kate Hudson, to name a few.

One actor who didn’t make the cut is Kaley Cuoco, whose Emmy-nominated turn as Cassie Bowen in HBO Max’s Flight Attendant had Hollywood proclaiming her the next big thing—despite the fact that she’s been in the industry for more than 30 years.

Kaley Cuoco, Glamour‘s April cover star, tell us she was “convinced” the role in Knives Out 2 was hers, especially following The Flight Attendant‘s critical acclaim. “I was thinking I was hot shit,” she says, “I’m going to be with Daniel Craig. This is amazing.”

In the end, Kate Hudson secured the role. “But I was so convinced that my bags were packed for Greece,” she continues. “And then I didn’t get it. I was so devastated. And I’m not [normally] devastated over roles. I had done chemistry reads, I had done Zooms. And I didn’t get it. I cried and I cried all night long.”

She’s still unclear as to why she wasn’t cast, but she holds no grudges. And the rejection appears to have turned out for the best. Cuoco says that losing the role to Hudson—”who’s great”—opened the door for a project she wouldn’t have booked had she been cast in Knives Out

After her rejection, she received a call from the producers of Meet Cute, the forthcoming rom com she stars in alongside man-of-the-moment Pete Davidson, which also comes out later this year.
