It turns out that OntheJLo.com subscribers may have understood the significance behind the ring’s green color before anyone else. According to People, Lopez once wrote about her emotional connection to the color green in her newsletter.

“I always say the color green is my lucky color,” Lopez wrote about the iconic green Versace dress she wore to the Grammys in the year 2000. “Maybe you can remember a certain green dress.”

She added, “I’ve realized there are many moments in my life where amazing things happened when I was wearing green.”

Of course, this is not the first time Ben Affleck has proposed to Jennifer Lopez. It’s not even the first time he’s done so with an unconventional colored ring! The first time around, Affleck popped the question in November 2002 with a 6.1-carat pink diamond ring worth $2.5 million. Unfortunately, they never made it to the altar and officially split in 2004.

This time, the couple has no plans to call it quits. “I don’t think we would have got back together if we thought that was where it was headed,” Lopez told Rolling Stone in February. “We feel like what we found again is so much more important, and how we protect that and how we live our lives—what to share, what not to share—is the balance that we have now, the benefit of experience and the wisdom that we gained over the years.”
