The 2022 Emmy nominees have officially been announced! While I am of course happy for all the nominees blah blah blah, I’m especially thrilled for Zendaya, Quinta Brunson, and Selena Gomez, who all made history this year. It’s what they deserve.

At some point, Zendaya is just going to have to stop killing it so hard because nobody can keep up. She was nominated for lead actress in a drama series for Euphoria, as expected. Additionally, she was nominated for two original songs for the series. She is now a five-time Emmy nominee (casual), and is both the youngest woman nominated for producing and the youngest two-time nominee for lead acting, per Pop Crave.

Quinta Brunson, another powerhouse, went from niche online star to household name thanks to her delightful new sitcom, Abbott Elementary. As is her due, she has now made Emmys history by becoming the first Black woman to receive three comedy nominations in one year. According to Variety, Brunson was nominated for best comedy series, best actress in a comedy series, and for best writing.

“Creating this show has been the greatest gift and to have it recognized in this way is the dream,” Brunson said in a statement to Glamour. “It’s a joy we get to share with the amazing people who watched our first season.”

Meanwhile! Selena Gomez may not have been nominated for her acting in Only Murders In the Building (a scandal), but she still made history this year. As part of the producing team for Only Murders, which was nominated for best comedy series, Gomez has become the second ever Latina woman nominated as part of a comedy producing team in Emmys history, according to Variety
