It’s official: Lady Gaga is set to star as Harley Quinn in the Joker sequel alongside Joaquin Phoenix, who will reprise his villainous titular role in the upcoming movie-musical. Despite having the obvious acting and singing chops, Gaga’s personal style couldn’t be more perfect for the iconic DC Comics character: Over the years, the superstar has channeled Quinn’s love for all-leather ensembles, which often include mini shorts and moto jackets. On a few occasions, Gaga has even sported quirky hair looks that nod to Harley’s signature dip-dyed pigtails (which Margot Robbie also famously sported in the 2018 film Suicide Squad).

While the Joker: Folie À Deux costume designer will hopefully take Harley Quinn’s fashion looks in a fresh new direction, Gaga’s personal wardrobe could certainly serve as a mood board for the character. What constitutes a Harley Quinn outfit, you ask? In the original DC Comic, she sported a two-tone, red and black leather jumpsuit with a jester hat. Over the years, however, her outfits have evolved to be more risqué, including a leather bra top and underwear, or baby tees paired with hot shorts and sneaker heels. The word sexy always comes to mind, whatever Halsey’s ensemble may be—after all, the bad girl is known to often deceive her attackers using her sexuality.

Lady Gaga has always had a penchant for darker, sinister fashion. She’s known as Mother Monster by her fans, and her wardrobe has always played into this more edgy aesthetic. When she burst onto the scene with The Fame, for instance, she rarely performed without her leather moto jackets or latex bodysuits—garments we could easily see Harley kick butt in. During her Joanne album era, Gaga also often stepped out in micro shorts, cropped tees, and staggering heels—three of Harley’s go-to pieces. More recently, Gaga’s Chromatica Ball tour has included futuristic, strappy leather bodysuits that seem like they’re plucked right out of Suicide Squad
