Cate Blanchett attended Guillermo Del Toro’s ‘Pinocchio’ world premiere held during the 66th BFI London Film Festival which was held at The Royal Festival Hall on Saturday (October 15).

As I am not a Lord of the Rings fanatic, the eye on Cate’s Alexander McQueen Spring 2023 suit would’ve totally gone over my head.

But someone on twitter commented under the Alexander McQueen tweet, “Not Galadrial wearing Eye of Sauron,” and I realised that there was more than meets the eye (pun intended) so I did some digging.

Cate plays Galadriel in ‘The Lord of the Rings,’ and the ‘Eye Of Sauron’ from the film sees all, and the Eye influences all that it sees. To be captured in its stare, was to be under Sauron’s influence.

So while it isn’t directly linked to the film she is promoting, it is fitting that Cate aka Galadrial, be the first to wear this look on the runway.

The eye print is very dynamic, and to Sarah Burton it had an entirely different meaning.

Mostly to do with how do we find human contact in a world of technology with our eyes always focused on our smartphones?

What comes as no surprise when it comes to this suit, is the razor-sharp tailoring that forms the brand’s directional aesthetic.

As always, Cate continues to be a glowing ambassador for McQueen.
