If there’s one story every nine-year-old wants to hear, it’s their conception… Is it not?
Either way, Kim Kardashian recently gave her nine-year-old daughter, North West, a run-down of the night she was conceived during a visit to designer Olivier Rousteing in Paris. During the most recent episode of The Kardashians, which aired on November 23, the reality star told her daughter that one of Rousteing’s dresses is the reason North is with us today.
Kim Kardashian and ex-husband Kanye West welcomed their eldest daughter in June 2013 and share three other children together: six-year-old Saint, four-year-old Chicago, and three-year-old Psalm. Eight months before North’s birth, Kanye picked out a very special dress for Kim to wear to the 2012 Angel Ball in New York City on October 22—one day after the SKIMS founder’s 32nd birthday.
“Northie, I’ve known Olivier since before you were a baby and he gave daddy this blue dress that daddy wanted for me,” Kim told North during the episode, per People. “It was my birthday the year before you were born and I wore the dress, and I got pregnant and you got in my belly the night I wore that dress.” She continued, “So, Olivier might have a little something to do with the reason you’re on this planet.”
Kim Kardashian is actually not the first to tell this story. The Balmain creative director also shared this fun fact during a 2016 Q&A for Kim Kardashian’s app. “I think the first [dress] that I made for her was not the bachelorette one, it was a long, electric-blue dress that Kanye requested,” he said at the time, per Refinery 29. “And you know what is the most amazing thing about this dress that—I don’t know if I can say it, but I’m going to say it, I’m sorry Kim, I want to say—is the night where North was conceived.”
Don’t worry, Olivier! Clearly, she’s fine with everyone knowing!
