At last, Cara Delevingne is spilling the tea about her new girlfriend. In an interview for the cover of Vogue, the model and actor shared a glimpse inside her budding relationship with girlfriend Leah Mason, the musician who performs under the stage name Minke. The pair started dating a little over a year ago, but met much earlier in life as students at Bedales, a prestigious liberal arts boarding school in Hampshire, England. The two lost touch after graduating, but rekindled their bond 12 years later at an Alanis Morissette concert.

Delevingne is currently navigating her first four months of sobriety following a tumultuous year that ultimately led her to enter rehab and embark on a 12-step program. Delevingne credited Mason for holding her accountable in the early stages of recovery.

“She’s the type of person who has boundaries, and there came a point with me when she wasn’t going to have it much longer, and it was a blessing in disguise,” she said. “It’s the first time I feel like I’m in a relationship not trying to rescue someone.”

Delevingne spent her first holiday season as a newly sober person with Mason in Utah. “It was just the two of us,” she gushed. “I was in bed by 12:15 a.m. on New Year’s Eve having the nicest time.”

Prior to Mason, Delevingne dated actor Ashley Benson for two years. The pair self-isolated together during the first weeks of the pandemic, but broke up in April 2020—the cherry on top of “a really sad time.”

“And then I was alone, really alone…it was a low point,” she recalled. Without the distraction of work, it was sometimes difficult for Delevingne to get out of bed. To cope with the ensuing “existential crisis,” she wallowed and partied.
