Tom Brady Shared a Cryptic Quote About ‘Success on Instagram

Since his second retirement and divorce from Gisele Bündchen, Tom Brady has demonstrated some, shall we say, interesting social media behavior. First, there was the heavily roasted mirror selfie thirst trap. Now, the former quarterback is posting lengthy Ralph Waldo Emerson quotes about the true meaning of “success.”

On his Instagram Stories, Brady posted an image of the quotation, adding three red heart emojis. “What is success?” the retired footballer asks, via Emerson. “To laugh often and much; to win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children; to earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends. To appreciate the beauty; to find the best in others; to leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or esteemed social condition; to know even one life has breathed easier because to have lived.” The passage concludes, “This is to have succeeded!” I suppose Brady, a man who has greatly succeeded by every conventional and tangible measure, would know.
