Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn

Presumably taking a break from writing her latest breakup lyrics, Taylor Swift was photographed enjoying a night on the town on April 10, the first time she’s been seen in public since her split from Joe Alwyn was confirmed

According to People, Swift went to dinner with friends Jack Antonoff and Margaret Qualley at an Italian restaurant in New York City’s West Village. The restaurant, called Via Carota, is just a four-minute walk from the Cornelia Street of “Cornelia Street” fame, by the way. Swift’s low-key look was definitely giving “flirty and thriving,” judging by the photos published in People. The Grammy-winner wore loose-fitting jeans embellished with a butterfly cut-out on the thigh, which she paired with an off-the-shoulder black top and a dangly beaded clutch bag.

The Swift-Alwyn breakup was confirmed on April 8, with sources telling People, “The differences in their personalities have also become harder to ignore after years together. They’ve grown apart.” According to the insider, Alwyn had a hard time living with Swift’s level of fame, which contributed to the end of their six-year romance.

The couple may have been growing apart for a while, but the news still came as a shock to Swifties, who are famously masters at decoding their fave’s every move and every lyric for nuggets of information. But perhaps this public appearance is another Swift message to the world.

In the song “Cornelia Street,” she sings, “And I hope I never lose you, hope it never ends/I’d never walk Cornelia Street again.” So, if Taylor Swift and Cornelia Street are still on good terms, maybe that’s supposed to mean that she and Alwyn are all good as well.
