Everybody stand down! Despite rumors to the contrary, sources close to Taylor Swift and Matty Healy—Swift’s least popular boyfriend since John Mayer—are adamant that the two are definitely not back together. In fact, they’re not even in contact with each other. Actually, they were never even that serious to begin with. Can we all just forget that Swift ever had a Matty Healy era, actually?
About a month after the Swift-Healy breakup was confirmed, the Sun reported on July 5 that the two musicians were back on, which insiders then immediately denied. “They are absolutely not together and aren’t even in contact anymore,” one source close to Swift told People. “She is enjoying being single and has been spending time in the studio and hanging out with friends in New York City. This is all B.S.” An insider close to Healy said the same thing, telling the outlet, “It’s complete nonsense. Not true at all.”
As you may recall, Swift’s relationship with Healy was intensely unpopular with her fans, who took issue with much of Healy’s problematic past behavior. For instance, Healy was known to make “ironic” racist jokes on a popular podcast, per Vulture, and some Swifties even circulated an open letter to Swift on Twitter, urging her to at least reflect on her current relationship. The fling didn’t last long following the fan backlash, and was confirmed to have ended in early June.
Concerned fans can now rest easy. Because Taylor Swift is never ever getting back together with that guy. (We hope.)
