The Louis Vuitton Monogram Speedy made its return to the runway for Pharrell Williams’s debut collection during Men’s Fashion Week in Paris back in June, and it appears the men in music, sport and entertainment can’t get enough of it.
Jackson Wang was the first to bring the bag into the spotlight, while using it to take home his Singer of the Year Award from the 2023 Weibo Music Awards.
Ahead of his first game of the season in Denver, LeBron James was spotted carrying the green Monogram LV Speedy bag while rocking a jacquard Damoflage Louis Vuitton collarless jacket, skinny trousers, derbies and sunglasses from the Spring-Summer 2024 collection, along with a Louis Vuitton printed hard sided suitcase.
If you’re anything like me, you are excited to see the Damoflage print again, following Lionel Messi’s more subtle outing.
And then we had Australian actor Jacob Elordi who was spotted in Sydney Airport this weekend making the green Monogram LV Speedy bag part of his casual outing which featured an iconic vintage Avirex leather jacket.
What’s different about this new Monogram LV Speedy bag?
While it features the classic trapezoid Speedy silhouette, the construction has been softened.
This new version is crafted in super slouchy calfskin and has a relaxed feel, and unlike the iconic original, these have a seam down the center of the base.
Pharrell’s hot take on the classic Speedy was inspired by the replica bags you often find at Canal Street.
He told the New York Times, “I want to give you the same experience that you get when you go to Canal Street, a place that has appropriated the house for decades, right? Let’s reverse it. Let’s get inspired by the fact that they’ll make some colorways that the house has never made. But then let’s actually make it the finest of leather.”
With three sightings in a month, this bag has the potential to become the next ‘it’ man bag.
Hopefully we get to see other colourways than just green.
