Greta Gerwig proved that her promo tour for ‘Barbie’ wasn’t a flash in the pan or a fluke when she stepped up to collect the Director of the Year Award during the 2024 Palm Springs International Film Festival Film Awards which was held in California last night.
The director wore a custom dress from 16Arlington’s Spring 2024 collection, which has the same silhouette as the dress Alexa Chung wore to The Fashion Awards 2023.
What I love most about this dress – aside from the fact that Greta who was a staunch suit wearing woman for so long is wearing this dress at all – is how the silhouette is enhanced with use of smaller paliettes, and the step between the exaggerated hips and the hemline of the skirt.
But let’s not forget to applaud the styling, which felt fresh and high-spirited.
I sincerely hope – as it appears – that this promo has given Greta a newfound appreciation for red carpet fashion.
