Recently, the decadence and excess of the ’80s has been the style reference of choice for the A-list. First up was Miley Cyrus at the Grammys, paying perfect homage to her godmother Dolly Parton in her heyday. That was followed swiftly by Blake Lively’s Mariah-esque mop of curls at the Super Bowl and Florence Pugh’s spiky mullet. This week it seems we’ve turned back time again, thanks to actor Anya Taylor-Joy, who stepped out at another Dune: Part Two premiere in New York with a full and frothy head of ’70s disco frizz.

Although it’s a style that wouldn’t have looked out of place on the dance floor at Studio 54, Anya Taylor-Joy’s hairstylist Gregory Russell kept things fresh and modern by anchoring each side with grips and creating a sharp, contrasting centre parting. When it came to the lengths, Anya’s icy blonde strands appeared to have been crimped before being brushed out with a bristle brush to give them the requisite fuzziness. To match the drama of her Maison Margiela gown, make-up artist Georgie Eisdell added a glossy berry stain to her lips and accentuated her sculpted cheekbones with a terracotta blush.

Given the slew of retro beauty looks that have been landing lately, we’re excited for what’s next. Brigitte Bardot’s beehive, anyone?
