After proving that a nose piercing after age 40 can be the most sophisticated accessory, Katie Holmes is back with new lessons that go beyond fashion.
The actor attended the American Ballet Theatre Spring Gala on May 14 wearing an Emilio Pucci sequined kaftan that served as the perfect backdrop for her radiant hair and makeup look. Apart from the flattering touch that her silver hoop added to her face, Holme’s choice of makeup played a key role in creating her luminous vibe.
First, she opted for a pearl-effect foundation. Among the makeup trends for this spring/summer 2024—partly inspired by creatives like John Galliano or Marc Jacobs—is pearl skin makeup that enhances natural beauty, but with a touch of luminescence. It’s not too shiny or exaggerated, it’s simply inspired by the color and reflection of pearls. Holmes added a bit of blush and powder pink lips to add to the glowy effect.
The most original detail was in her eye makeup. Although her eyes didn’t stand out for their strident colors or striking liner, their design revolved around luminosity and shine. That’s the crux of the matter! Glitter in the form of metallic pigments can be a good option to completely reinvent an eye makeup look. Katie Holmes played with this idea and sprinkled some shiny color on the tear duct, creating a spectacular feline look.
Now, let’s talk about her hair. Holmes opted for a ponytail with a strong parting in the middle. The stylist decided to give it a more casual, relaxed character by leaving some loose pieces at her crown. Unlike the uber sleek ponytails Kim Kardashian is known for, this look is more than perfect for those who want an elegant, yet effortless style.
The actor, who played Joey Potter in the TV series Dawson’s Creek has reminded us a very (very) important style lesson: Some trends are timeless, and any day is a good time to add a touch of glitter.
