Maya Rudolph made a guest appearance on ‘Jimmy Kimmel Live,’ where she joined guest host RuPaul where she talked about her first ever speaking role, her show ‘Loot,’ and playing Kamala Harris on SNL.
As always, Maya brought her unique charm and sense of humour to the stage, but it was her choice of outfit that truly caught everyone’s attention. Dressed in a Simone Rocha corset lace-up coat from the Fall 2024 collection, Maya made a bold fashion statement that had me both excited and a little perplexed.
There is so much to love about this coat, starting with its theatrical flair. The lace-up detail, typically associated with corsetry, adds a touch of drama and structure, while the luxurious fabric captures the essence of modern romance. It’s a piece that demands attention.
However, as much as I appreciate the coat, I can’t help but feel slightly distracted by the fit. It’s no secret that Maya loves an oversized silhouette—a preference that often works in her favour, adding a touch of relaxed sophistication to her looks. But in this instance the coat seems almost too big on her: particularly the lengthy sleeves which are slightly overwhelming.
It’s a shame because the concept behind this outfit is brilliant. The lace-up corset detail adds a unique twist, infusing the classic coat with a sense of edginess. Admittedly this is a minor issue as I feel that this look perfectly marries Maya’s playful personality with Simone Rocha’s distinctive design aesthetic.
