Jonathan Anderson & Sara Moonves Celebrate Luca Guadagnino and the 'Queer' Venice Film Festival Premiere

Loewe Creative Director, Jonathan Anderson, who served as costume designer for the film, and W Magazine’s Editor-in-Chief, Sara Moonves hosted an intimate dinner in Venice to celebrate Luca Guadagnino and the premiere of his film, ‘Queer’ at Il Porticciolo, Hotel Cipriani.

Guests included ‘Queer’ director Luca Guadagnino and cast members Daniel Craig, Lesley Manville, Drew Starkey, Jason Schwartzman, Omar Apollo, screenwriter Justin Kuritzkes, and editor Marco Costa, as well as Loewe global brand ambassador Taylor Russell, Rachel Weisz, Celine Song, Kodi Smit-McPhee, and more.

A Backless Moment of Perfection

Seeing Taylor Russell’s Loewe black dress was a moment of familiarity—because no one does a backless dress quite like her. The feather detailing, echoing Loewe’s menswear Spring 2025 runway, had me wondering if we’re getting an early sneak peek at the women’s Spring 2025 collection. If so, it wouldn’t be the first time Taylor’s donned a piece ahead of its release before. She has an uncanny ability to pull off these looks with poise, and this was no exception. The dress’s simplicity paired with the striking feather accents made for a standout, yet elegantly understated, look.

A Playful Departure from Classic Elegance

Rachel Weisz is known for her classic, sophisticated style, but at this dinner, she took a surprising leap into the quirky world of Loewe. Her pale pink ruched dress, adorned with delicate white flower appliqués, was a playful departure from her usual aesthetic. While the dress itself was whimsical and intriguing, the styling felt a little off. I couldn’t quite get on board with the sheer white pumps—an unexpected choice that didn’t fully land for me, or the patterned bag with this dress. Still, there’s something refreshing about seeing Rachel step outside her comfort zone, embracing a more experimental look.

A Signature Loewe Look, Twice Over

Lesley Manville has been quietly building a solid Loewe narrative this year since the BAFTAs, and her choice for this dinner only solidified it. She donned a black Loewe dress accented with a white brooch, echoing the detail she wore for the film’s red carpet premiere. It’s rare to see an actress repeat such a distinctive motif so soon, which makes me think we’ll see this look, or a variation of it, on the Loewe Spring 2025 women’s runway.
