Emily Blunt attended the opening ceremony of the 2024 Red Sea International Film Festival in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia, where she was honoured for her remarkable career and enduring impact on the film industry.
For the occasion, the British actress wore a Tamara Ralph Fall 2024 Couture gown that can only be described as a tale of two dresses. The design featured silver crystal tulle embellished with xillion crystals for most of the front, while the back was constructed from black velvet. This dramatic contrast was an intriguing concept, but one that didn’t entirely come together for me.
I wanted to love it, especially since Emily’s style is something I usually admire, but this gown left me scratching my head. The transition between the two fabrics felt abrupt, and the addition of the bows was jarring rather than cohesive. It’s a shame because the craftsmanship of the crystal embellishments was undeniably beautiful.
Perhaps it was the duality of the design that made the look feel less impactful, the fact that she wearing the embellished tights, or maybe it’s that I’ve come to expect a certain effortlessness from Emily that didn’t translate here. Either way, this gown didn’t quite hit the mark.
Look 11 was screaming her name.
