While I thought Zoe Saldana’s press tour for ‘Emilia Pérez’ had officially wrapped, the actress surprised us with three additional looks in London this week, following her six standout appearances back in October. It’s always exciting to see her back in the spotlight, but this trio of looks left me with mixed feelings.
Netflix Screening & Reception
Yes, I’ve often bemoaned Zoe’s penchant for black on the red carpet, but this contemporary look from the newly launched Self-Portrait Residency by Christopher Kane collection hit all the right notes. From the frills to the bandage-style skirt and lace trims, this ensemble had an edge that felt fresh and sultry. It was the kind of bold, glamorous move I love to see from Zoe. This was hands down the highlight of her London appearances.
Emilia Pérez Lunch Reception Hosted by Ruthie Rogers
Unfortunately, this Rochas Fall 2024 look didn’t quite land. The corseted belt and skirt felt disconnected, creating an outfit that lacked cohesion. I can’t help but feel that Zoe should’ve taken charge and paired the cut-out turtleneck with a simpler bottom, as she had with the first look. This had potential, but the execution left much to be desired.
Women in Film & Television Awards 2024
Something about this Bally Spring 2025 floral dress just didn’t work. Maybe it was the awkward fit, or perhaps the vibrant floral print clashing against the step-and-repeat backdrop, but this look felt out of place. It’s rare for Zoe to falter like this, but this one missed the mark for me.
The Christopher Kane ensemble stands out as the clear winner.
