Kim Kardashian Wore Balenciaga To The 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party

While Kylie Jenner stuck to her tried-and-true formula for the Oscars, Kim Kardashian decided to shake things up at the 2025 Vanity Fair Oscar Party.

And by “shake things up,” I mean she opted for a different silhouette—not a different designer—stepping out in a strapless Balenciaga Resort 2025 white strapless gown.

While Balenciaga insists this is a custom version for Kim (which, visually and technically, it is), some of you will remember that Naomi Watts wore the original design first to the Kering Foundation Third Annual Caring For Women Dinner back in September. The main differences? Kim’s version has a more fitted bodice, ditches the belt, and dramatically increases the skirt’s volume.

While I appreciate the tweaks, I can’t help but feel like this is still a rerun. And for someone who is literally a Balenciaga ambassador, it’s a bit odd that she wasn’t given an exclusive or a first-look moment with this design. Shouldn’t she be the one debuting these pieces rather than reworking them months later?

That being said, this is refreshing for Kim. This is hands down her best look in a long time, and the change in silhouette feels like a long-overdue shift in her style narrative. So, while I wish it had been a true first, I’m just grateful for the something new—because, let’s be real, it’s been a long time coming.
