I don’t believe in putting a timeframe on glamour, so I was thrilled to see Selena Gomez fully embrace the moment for the ‘Emilia Perez’ photocall during the BFI London Film Festival at the Corinthia Hotel this morning.
Selena wore a black velvet dress from Schiaparelli, immediately recognisable by the iconic gold keyhole motif. First introduced in 1935 as a padlock closure on a bag, this symbol has since become a signature detail, and here it shines as a hammered gold-tone cut-out feature on this elegant column dress.
Although we recently saw this dress on Philippine Leroy-Beaulieu at the ’Emily In Paris’ Season 4 premiere after-party, and while the length may have been an inch too long for Selena, I’m still calling this a major win. The simplicity, sophistication, and elegance of the look strike a perfect balance, and, crucially, it doesn’t age her.
This is proof that a timeless design and modern glamour are a winning combination.
