Awards season is already bringing together two of the most fan-favorite stars. Selena Gomez and Ariana Grande have publicly shown their support for each other after learning about their Golden Globes nominations for ‘Emilia Perez’ and ‘Wicked’ respectively. The pair had a sweet interaction at the Academy Women’s Luncheon on Tuesday at the Academy Museum.
They both looked stunning wearing head-to-toe Chanel, with Ariana wearing a sleeveless tweed dress in blue-and-white featuring a V-shaped neckline and square pockets. She paired the look with black leather pumps, a quilted Chanel bag, minimal diamond jewelry and a black hair bow.
The two stars have similar backgrounds, starting their careers in Disney Chanel and Nickelodeon, becoming popular singers, and continuing their careers in acting. The pair sat together at the luncheon and were happy to share a special moment amid their nominations.
Meanwhile, Selena wore a black tweed skirt suit paired with a matching cropped jacket featuring a white collar and arm cuffs. The actress completed the ensemble with sheer black tights and white Mary Jane platform pumps.
“I really love watching this moment happen for Selena,” Ariana said to Variety. “I know how hard she’s worked and how long she’s waited. I recognize that because it resonates with me so I know that feeling. So when you can reach out to your friends in the industry and say, ‘Great work, congratulations,’ why not do it?”
The ‘Wicked’ actress was one of the first people to contact Selena after the nominations were revealed. “Ariana texted me and it was the sweetest note and it was about six in the morning,” Selena said to the publication.
“I respect her so much, and I’ve always adored her,” Ariana continued about Selena. “I was really happy for her to see us on that list together. It was very special,” she added. “I don’t know Selena as well as I wish I did so I’m excited to sit next to her today.”
“I know firsthand how isolating this industry could feel at times, but moments like this, in rooms like this and talking with all these amazing women,” Selena said at the luncheon. “it reminds me that I am not alone.”
