The opening of ‘Forever Valentino’, a major perspective exhibition that pays homage to its founder Valentino Garavani and its still-unfolding heritage of Haute Couture excellence was held on Thursday (October 27) in Doha, Qatar with a host of celebrities in attendance.

Naomi Campbell was not to be missed wearing a Valentino Fall 2022 Haute Couture chiffon gown in your favourite colour pink, worn with one of the spectacular feather-like Philip Treacy hats.

I don’t mind the necklace as I think it adds to the overall glamour, but the bracelets felt a bit random and not in tune with the rest of the look.

Janet Jackson – fashion’s newest girl about town – opted for a less OTT look wearing a brown pleated Valentino Spring 2023 look which at first, I thought was a gown.

I did wonder if this needed an accent around the waist seam, but it sits too low for any accessory to have any desired effect.

Then I discovered that this was a jumpsuit with a cape, so any style of belt wouldn’t have worked anyway.

Valentino’s creative director Pierpaolo Piccioli embraced the Qatari national men style by wearing a thobe, which is a long white shirt over loose pants.

Olivia Culpo wore a Valentino strapless jumpsuit from the Fall 2022 Pink PP collection, which we saw an embellished version of on Bérénice Bejo during the Cannes Film Festival.

As a fan of jumpsuit, I love how the off-the-shoulder neckline oozes femininity.

A Valentino Garavani One Stud bag completed her look.

Valentino Fall 2022

Between the green hue of Sabrina Elba’s Valentino Resort 2023 draped gown, the jewels and the embellished Valentino Garavani bag, this was one of my favourite looks of this event.

She is on a roll in Qatar. I hope she brings this same energy to all her red carpet looks going forward.

Valentino Resort 2023

Ed Westwick wore a Valentino Fall 2022 Pink PP collection look with Valentino Garavani Pink PP sneakers that feels like version of Sebastian Stan’s Met Gala look, but Ed wore a blazer over a bomber jacket.

I would’ve liked this look if the trousers didn’t appear too big for Ed.

Sasha Lane usually serves up looks with a bit of an edge to them, which is why I was surprised by this Valentino Spring 2023 look.

I would’ve liked the skirt to have been paired with a different top, as this blouse is underwhelming.

A Valentino Garavani Loco’ bag and Valentino Garavani shoes completed her look.

Precious Lee wore a gorgeous green Valentino cape gown from the Fall 2022 Promenade collection.

I am living for the glamour oozing from Marisa Berenson’s Valentino feather trimmed gown from the Pre-Fall 2022 collection.

Valentino Pre-Fall 2022

Leomie Anderson sold me on the styling of this Valentino coat, with her gold jewels, Valentino Garavani Rockstud Spike bag, and Valentino Garavani Tan-Go pointed platforms.

It seems like there were two dominate colours on this red carpet, and Karolina Kurkova opted for the non Pink PP colour wearing an oversized green suit from the Valentino Resort 2023 collection.

It can be hard to wear a drop sleeve blazer, but for me this was a successful presentation of that style.

Valentino Resort 2023

The trailblazing model Halima Aden served up her usual fresh, modest elegance wearing a Valentino Spring 2023 look with a Valentino Garavani Roman Stud bag and Valentino Garavani sandals.

Ikram Abdi did the same in dazzling style with an embellished Valentino gown from the same Spring 2023 collection.

Granted, Leonie Hanne has worn a lot of Valentino, especially from the Pink PP collection, but I would’ve taken another pink look over this Resort 2023 outing which looks like a mix of eras thrown together.

Despite the attempt to modernise this look with the Valentino Garavani Roman Stud bag, the look felt very old fashioned to me.

If you watch the ‘Real Housewives of Dubai’ you will recognise Chanel Aya.

A model in her own right, the reality star sights Naomi Campbell as her idol.  Naturally.

So much so that she wore the same Valentino Fall 2022 Pink PP gown which the British supermodel wore the Celebration Of Women In Cinema Gala back in May.

Chanel styled her look with Valentino Garavani accessories.

Valentino Fall 2022

I would’ve loved to have seen Amina Muaddi’s Valentino Spring 2023 off-the-shoulder gown from the front.

Granted the drama is in the back, but it’s hard to get a sense of the entire look from the back for me, especially without a runway look for reference.

Digital Creator Jackie Aina wore a Valentino silk cady dress while informing us that those Valentino Garavani ‘Tan-Go’ platforms now come in green.

At least she opted to mix up her accessories by adding an orange Valentino Garavani Rockstud spike leather bag, whereas most went head-to-toe tonal.
