I honestly don’t think this year’s Cannes Film Festival could’ve started much better.
Elle Fanning was back on the Cannes Film Festival red carpet as an ambassador for L’Oreal this evening (May 16), for the ‘Jeanne du Barry’ premiere which also serves as the opening ceremony.
If you thought that the days of Elle Fanning wearing a neutral-coloured gown were over…think again.
The actress has been playing with different styles of late, but I’m delighted to see the Elle Fanning I know and love grace the red carpet wearing a custom Alexander McQueen gown inspired by the Fall 2023 collection.
We’ve had a scenario where an Alexander McQueen runway look was transformed into a princess style gown and it wasn’t successful, but that – thankfully – wasn’t the case on this occasion.
Do I wish Elle had worn the runway version?
No, because there will be a time and a place for that look to be worn on the red carpet, and this wasn’t it.
