Selena Gomez made a return to the spotlight at the Season 4 premiere of Hulu’s ‘Only Murders In The Building,’ held at Paramount Studios in Los Angeles, California.
If you’re anything like me, you were ecstatic to see Selena looking absolutely radiant in a Self-Portrait tinsel boucle mini dress from the Fall 2024 collection. It was a fashion moment that perfectly encapsulated her evolving style—fun, youthful, yet sophisticated.
What struck me most about this look was how Han Chong, the designer behind Self-Portrait, found the perfect blend of sophisticated simplicity and luxurious fabrics. The dress featured a flattering silhouette that was both modern and timeless, showcasing Selena’s natural beauty without over-complicating things. The fabric’s texture added an indulgent touch, while the clean lines kept the look effortlessly chic.
I also love this look because Selena truly looked her age. For the New York premiere back in 2022, Selena was channelling her inner Catherine Zeta-Jones, which was striking but felt a bit more formal and grown-up. In contrast, her latest appearance was refreshing. She looked more carefree, exuding an energy that felt more aligned with her persona.
That isn’t to say that Selena should start dressing like a teenager again—far from it. The mini dress was age-appropriate, playful, and stylish, without veering into tween.
As someone who has grown up watching Selena transform from a Disney star to a multi-faceted artist, it’s wonderful to see her in a look that perfectly reflects who she is today—fun, confident, and undeniably stylish.
