The Venice Film Festival concluded its Sunday evening with the premiere of ‘Wolfs,’ attended by Cate Blanchett. While you’d expect the Armani Beauty ambassador to be draped in the brand’s finest, the Australian actress opted for a custom Louis Vuitton black velvet gown.
I’m telling myself that the gown itself, featuring a sculptural shell-shaped origami bustier, was undeniably a work of art and that the silhouette was beautifully constructed, showcasing Louis Vuitton’s craftsmanship.
That’s because the finer details were lost in the darkness of the velvet fabric. Under the lights, and even in dimmer settings, it was hard to fully appreciate the intricacy of the piece.
That said, Cate Blanchett’s prolific style on the red carpet often speaks for itself, and this look is no exception. Even with the details somewhat obscured, the gown’s silhouette was enough to let me know this was a win for her. There’s something to be said for a design that, even when not seen in its full glory, still manages to captivate.
Her look was completed with Louis Vuitton black velvet pumps.
